A duo based in Stockholm and Berlin, Beat Bandit consists of Manne Svensson from garage-rock band The Flare-Up! and Niklas Hagen from pop/rock outfit Sideshow.

The two started making electronic music in the summer of 2002 and have a small club hit in Berlin at the moment with "Turn On the Alarm," which will be released as a single before the end of this year. They have now recorded their debut album, Below Bohemia, which will be released on Freundschaft Musik.

The album is a fusion of garage-rock attitude and electronic playfulness, stopping short of landing with both feet in electroclash. Svensson and Hagen say they were inspired by "people who make pop music on computers, like Devo, Beck, Costello."

"It's computer pop - a lot of different styles are altered to fit into this form," Svensson says. "Every new song has been produced with the intentional feeling that a completely different artist could have created it. So you could say that our music is 'anti-authentic."
